ATALANTA PREVIEW: CRUISING THROUGH TO THE SUMMER
It has been a magnificent season for Gian Piero Gasperini and Atalanta. They would have been forgiven for coasting through in the last couple of games of this season after hammering Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 to win the UEFA Europa League in Dublin about ten days ago but, instead, the Bergamasci secured a top four spot last weekend with a 2-0 defeat of Torino.
That means, with 18 of the 20 teams done for the 2023/24 campaign, they could still squeeze themselves into third spot in Serie A and increase their prize winnings for the season with a victory this weekend enough to leapfrog Juventus. They are currently on a seven-match winning streak in the league.
FIORENTINA PREVIEW: BACK-TO-BACK EURO DRAMA
The bizarre scheduling of Serie A this season and these two sides making European finals meant it made sense for their game, especially after the death of Fiorentina CEO Joe Barone when this game was originally supposed to be played, to be put back a bit but there is surely nothing less enticing than I Viola having to play this one.
They come into this one on the back of another gut-wrenching defeat in the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League. After losing to a late Jarrod Bowen strike for West Ham United in Prague last year, they were undone by this season’s top scorer in the tournament, Ayoub El Kaabi, scoring a 116th minute winner for Olympiakos in Athens during the week.
ATALANTA TEAM NEWS: HEARTACHE FOR DE ROON
After being named on the bench but unfit to take part in the UEFA Europa League final, it has since been confirmed that Netherlands international midfielder Marten de Roon will now miss UEFA EURO 2024, too. He remains sidelined for this final game of the season alongside defender Sead Kolasinac.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Carnesecchi; Toloi, Djimsiti, Scalvini; Zappacosta, Pasalic, Koopmeiners, Bakker; De Ketalaere, Lookman; Scamacca
UNAVAILABLE: Kolasinac (Injured), De Roon (Injured)

FIORENTINA TEAM NEWS: MANDRAGORA OUT SUSPENDED
After the heartbreak suffered in midweek, the last thing that Fiorentina will want to do this weekend is play yet another game so we could see some very heavy rotation from Vincenzo Italiano. He will have to make a change in midfield with Rolando Mandragora out suspended.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Terracciano; Dodo, Martinez Quarta, Milenkovic, Ranieri; Arthur, Duncan; Ikone, Barak, Beltran; Nzola
UNAVAILABLE: Mandragora (Suspended), Sottil (Injured)

ATALANTA VS FIORENTINA PREDICTION
This game is being played due to circumstances beyond many people’s control and we do have to round off the season but it must be a real sickener for Fiorentina to try and pick themselves up from a third cup final defeat in less than 12 months as they travel to Bergamo. Unable to move up from their UEFA Europa Conference League spot of eighth place in Serie A, too, there is no real motivation for them and given the form of Atalanta, their home advantage and the incentive to jump above Juventus; backing a comfortable Atalanta win here seems likely.
ATALANTA VS FIORENTINA TIP: ATALANTA TO WIN -1 HANDICAP
