THE LOWDOWN

AC MILAN

AC Milan have had a very bizarre season so far. After winning the league title in 2022 but then being below par in 2023, the Rossoneri had an excellent and exciting summer transfer window. The start to the season domestically has been generally excellent but undermined by results and performances against the biggest sides.

In the UEFA Champions League, they are winless in their three matches against Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain. In Serie A, Milan have managed seven victories and a draw in their opening ten matches. The three teams that they have failed to defeat have been Inter, Juventus and Napoli.

UDINESE

Towards the start of last season, Udinese enjoyed six successive victories meaning they were in European competition as they headed into the break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. However, since then the Friulians have managed just five wins in their next 40 matches as they languish down at the bottom end of the table.

Their manager, Andrea Sottil, has been sacked and recently replaced by former Crawley Town manager Gabriele Cioffi. They remain winless in their opening ten matches of the 2023/24 Serie A season as they begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting outside of the bottom three and the relegation places.

THE TEAM NEWS

AC MILAN

AC Milan have a few injury concerns but have recently been able to welcome back the likes of Mike Maignan and Ruben Loftus-Cheek this weekend.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Hernandez; Musah, Krunic, Reijnders; Pulisic, Giroud, Leao

UNAVAILABLE: Pellegrino (Injured), Kalulu (Injured), Sportiello (Injured), Caldara (Injured), Bennacer (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Kjaer (Injured)

UDINESE

Udinese have had major injury issues throughout the weekend and they will remain without the likes of Gerard Deulofeu and Kingsley Ehizibue for this one.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Silvestri; Perez, Bijol, Kabasele; Ebosele, Samardzic, Walace, Payero, Zemura; Pereyra, Isaac

UNAVAILABLE: Kristensen (Injured), Deulofeu (Injured), Ehizibue (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Ebosse (Injured), Brenner (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Under the management of Stefano Pioli, AC Milan will be expected to challenge to reclaim the Italian title and their 20th of all time – meaning a second star on the badge. They have struggled against the best teams in the league but performances, bar an aberration in the Derby della Madonnina, have been generally strong. They face an Udinese side that remain winless and a comfortable Milan win, especially at San Siro, looks the way to go for this one.

BETTING TIP: AC MILAN TO WIN
