TANZANIA PREVIEW: TANZANIA HOPING TO BUILD ON ZAMBIA WIN

Tanzania are competing strongly in the CAF World Cup qualifiers and will want to do the same in the African Cup of Nations group stage of qualifying. They have every reason to believe that this squad has enough to reach the main draw, but now it’s about performing.

Unbeaten in their last three competitive fixtures, Tanzania’s most recent victory came against Zambia, a 0-1 win away from home thanks to an early goal from Waziri Shentembo. A similar result here would be most welcome.

ETHIOPIA PREVIEW: UNDERDOGS IN GROUP H LOOKING TO SPRING A SURPRISE

Ethiopia will be up against it in the qualification stage as they bid to finish inside the top two of Group H. To do that, getting something from this first round of fixtures would be most welcome. Like their opponents, they also come into this one on the back of a three-game unbeaten streak.

Most recently, Ethiopia drew 1-1 against Djibouti, which leaves them on three points, two adrift of the top three. But the AFCON qualifying fixtures represents a new opportunity from their point of view.

TANZANIA TEAM NEWS: SIDE THAT BEAT ZAMBIA FAVOURED

You’d expect Tanzania to come out with the same starting XI who took on Zambia, with Nondo and Hamad the centre-back partnership and Shentembo as the striker.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Salim; Mwaikenda, Nondo, Hamad, Mohamed; Yahya, Mkami; Mzize, Salum, Msuva; Shentembo

ETHIOPIA TEAM NEWS: WONDIMU THE DANGER MAN

Minyilu Wondimu, the scorer last time out for Ethiopia against Djibouti should lead the line here and Tanzania will need to defend very well against a player of his quality, whilst Tekle, Panom and Belay could form a midfield three.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Aregawi; Bekele, Jemal, Solomon, Moges; Tekle, Panom, Belay; Markneh, Wondimu, Tafesse

TANZANIA VS ETHIOPIA PREDICTION

When considering Tanzania’s results over the course 2024 so far, they are rightly considered a very good bet to get the better of Ethiopia. But the latter boast a significant goal threat and that gives them a chance, despite the ability of the opponents across the pitch. If Ethiopia get an opportunity, don’t bet against them taking it.

It would be no surprise to see chances at either end across the 90 minutes here and therefore, backing both teams to score in this contest does warrant serious consideration, regardless of who comes out on top.
