  • Romania were unbeaten in five competitive U21 fixtures (W2 D3) before losing to Spain on Matchday 1.
  • Romania’s defeat against Spain in their opening fixture was their first loss in the group stage at the U21 finals (W3 D3).
  • Romania have won only one of their last six U21 EURO final tournament matches (D3 L2).
  • Ukraine recorded their biggest U21 finals win on Matchday 1 when they defeated Croatia 2-0.
  • Ukraine are aiming to win two successive U21 EURO final tournament matches for the first time. *Penalty shoot-outs excluded
  • Ukraine have lost only two of their last 15 U21 EURO qualifying and final tournament matches (W11 D2).

THE PREDICTION

These two are among the weaker sides in the 2023 UEFA Under-21 European Championships but they started in very different fashion. Romania have had some strong sides at this level in the last half a decade or so but, as hosts, they will be a touch embarrassed by starting their group stage campaign with a 3-0 loss to Spain. The Ukrainians, though, who do boast some experience and talent, such as Mykhaylo Mudryk, comfortably defeated Croatia by two goals to nil and they will be expected to follow up that win with another victory here against their neighbours.

BETTING TIP: UKRAINE TO WIN
