The winners of the UEFA European Championship and the CONMEBOL Copa America meet in a match that hasn’t taken place since 1993, and indeed you need to go all the way back to 1990 for the last time these two teams faced each other in a competitive match.
Having not lost any of their last 31 games, Argentina are currently enjoying one of the longest unbeaten streaks in international football history – an accolade that is held by this Italian side when they went unbeaten for 37 games between October 2018 and October 2021.
Oddly though, Italy recently failed to qualify for the World Cup for the second time in succession so they will be determined to put that disappointment behind them here, on what is set to be defensive stalwart Giorgio Chiellini’s last game in national colours.
Argentina are no slouches at the back themselves these days though, with just two goals conceded in their last ten games. It would therefore be no surprise to see these two organised sides cancel each other out over 90 minutes, with under 2.5 goals the suggested betting market.
