Reigning World Cup winners France begin their Group D campaign at home to Ukraine, having booked their place in the UEFA Nations League finals in the last international break. Didier Deschamps’ side has not lost in competitive international competition since June 2019, winning 11 of their last 13 games. Deschamps boasts an embarrassment of riches to choose from within his squad and any side he picks here will have the capability of beating Ukraine comprehensively. The last time these two sides met was a friendly in October 2020, a match which saw France triumph 7-1. Whilst the result may not be as comprehensive in this World Cup European Qualifier, a home win by at least two clear goals is certainly expected.
