It is still quite surprising that Bosnia-Herzegovina are a team in League A and their performances last month suggest that won’t last long as they head into their third UEFA Nations League game of the 2024/25 campaign welcoming Germany to Sarajevo this week.

BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA PREVIEW: BRUTAL FOR BOSNIA

Bosnia-Herzegovina will view any sort of point or result in League A of the UEFA Nations League as a success and they did earn themselves a point with a goalless draw against what is a difficult to play against Hungarian side last month.

In their other game, though, the Bosnians suffered a 5-2 defeat to the Netherlands at De Kuip in Rotterdam. It would seem very unlikely they will get themselves a victory in this six-game group, let alone ever look like actually surviving relegation back to the second-tier.

GERMANY PREVIEW: ANOTHER GERMAN GENERATION

Julian Nagelsmann has stayed on as Germany coach following their quarter-final exit at UEFA EURO 2024. However, they have had several high profile retirements. Manuel Neuer, Ilkay Gundogan, Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller have all since departed the international stage.

Die Mannschaft began what is yet another ‘new era’ with a 5-0 thrashing of Hungary in Germany last month before they played out an entertaining 2-2 draw against the Netherlands at the Johann Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam a few days later.

BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA TEAM NEWS: EXPERIENCE IN ABUNDANCE

GERMANY TEAM NEWS: MATS INJURY

With Manuel Neuer now retired, Marc-Andre ter Stegen looked set to finally establish himself as the German number one but the Barcelona goalkeeper recently sustained a serious injury in La Liga against Villarreal so he is unavailable for the four-time world champions this week.

UNAVAILABLE: Ter Stegen (Injured)

BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA VS GERMANY PREDICTION

Bosnia-Herzegovina have over achieved to even be playing in League A of the UEFA Nations League and their goal will simply be to frustrate Germany for as long as possible. With the form and general quality of the front four of Germany, though, that includes Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, Serge Gnabry and Deniz Undav; it is still expected to be something of a comfortable victory for Die Mannschaft.
