THE PREDICTION

The Dutch begin their preparations for Euro 2020 as one of the seeded sides and favourites to blast through their group. However, relentlessly poor form under the very unconvincing management of Frank de Boer as well as the loss of key man Virgil van Dijk will concern them as they look to experiment against a Scotland side preparing for their first major tournament this century. Steve Clarke’s main decisions will be about the system deployed whether that be a 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 and the role of Scott McTominay in those systems. McTominay will likely be unavailable for this one given his participation in the Europa League final last week so it, once again, will be an experimental system. Both sides are limited going forward so, given that, it is likely to be a disjointed and low-scoring warm-up fixture.
