This match is being played in the United States as preparation for the Gold Cup kicking off at the start of July. El Salvador are one of the sides in CONCACAF who could consider qualification for an upcoming World Cup in light of Panama’s 2018 success but they are up against one of the slightly weaker sides in the confederation in Guatemala. El Salvador come into this on the back of a thumping 6-0 aggregate victory over Antigua and Barbuda in the second round of World Cup qualification whilst Guatemala failed to make it to the second round despite keeping ten successive clean sheets in all competitions since June 2019. El Salvador will come into this as the slight favourites.
