THE LOWDOWN

WOLFSBURG

Wolfsburg’s inconsistency is currently preventing them from launching an all-out assault on the Champions League places. Having now lost two of their last three league matches, they are yet to break the double-figure points barrier after five rounds of fixtures. However, they boast a 100% record at home, which stands them in good stead here.

Niko Kovac’s side pushed Borussia Dortmund hard last weekend, but fell victims to a Marco Reus goal midway through the second half, condemning them to defeat. It was also the first time so far this season that Kovac’s men failed to find the net, something they’ll want to put right with immediate effect.

EINTRACHT FRANKFURT

Eintracht Frankfurt’s reputation of draw specialists in this season’s Bundesliga continues to remain firmly intact. The visiting side’s last four league fixtures have seen them pick up a point and whilst they’ve only won once in five games, they remain unbeaten, something they can build from in a bid to push towards the top six.

Last time out for Eintracht Frankfurt saw them host Freiburg, a match in which neither team could be separated. In the end, the contest petered out into a 0-0 draw, meaning Eintracht have still conceded just three Bundesliga goals so far this season, the best record in the division.

THE TEAM NEWS

WOLFSBURG

Wolfsburg remain without Lukas Nmecha, whose knee injury continues to keep him on the sidelines, whilst the same problem also keeps Kilian Fischer out of contention. Defenders Moritz Jenz and Rogerio are both doubtful but the latter in particular is hopeful of recovering in time to play a part here.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Casteels; Maehle, Lacroix, Zesiger, Rogerio; Svanberg, Arnold; Cerny, Majer, Wimmer; Wind

UNAVAILABLE: Fischer (Injured), Nmecha (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Jenz (Injured), Rogerio (Injured)

EINTRACHT FRANKFURT

Dino Toppmoller will be without both Sebastian Rode and backup goalkeeper Simon Simoni. The two are out with calf and elbow injuries respectively. Midfielder Kristijan Jakic and centre-back Hrvoje Smolcic are both doubts with Toppmoller likely to enforce a 3-4-3 formation which sees Gotze and Chaibi either side of striker Omar Marmoush.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Trapp; Tuta, Koch, Pacho; Dina Ebimbe, Larsson, Shkiri, Nkounkou; Gotze, Marmoush, Chaibi

UNAVAILABLE: Rode (Injured), Simoni (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Jakic (Injured), Smolcic (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Wolfsburg aren’t used to drawing matches, none of their games this season have finished level. Eintracht Frankfurt on the other-hand, cannot stop drawing at present and will want to end that run here. It would be no surprise as a result to see a fairly open contest here. But Wolfsburg with home advantage in their favour and a little extra firepower up top should do enough to edge past the visitors on this occasion.

TIP: WOLFSBURG TO WIN
