THE PREDICTION

Frustrating will have been the overriding emotion for RB Leipzig on the opening weekend of the Bundesliga season after being forced to settle for a point away at Stuttgart. A similar result or worse at home to Koln will likely send alarm bells ringing in Leipzig, especially with the memories of last season’s terrible under former head coach Jesse Marsch which derailed their title challenge very early on. Koln are not to be underestimated and they pose a significant threat offensively as shown in their 3-1 victory over Schalke 04. However, RB Leipzig boast a squad far superior to that of Schalke and a group of players looking to prove a point following their poor start to the season, especially when also factoring in their German Super Cup defeat to Bayern Munich. Expect Leipzig to dominate at home and ultimately do enough to pick up the three points.
