THE PREDICTION

Both of these sides were crying out for the winter break a few weeks ago. Mainz begin the restart sitting in the relegation playoff place after their respectable 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund extended their winless run of form to six matches. They have scored just 13 goals in their 16 matches so far this season. Wolfsburg, under the management of former Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac, suffered three defeats in four matches before the stoppage and are hardly the most proactive of sides so, regardless of the match result on Saturday afternoon, a fairly dull game for the neutral is to be expected.
