THE PREDICTION

Mainz put up a good fight away at league leaders Bayern Munich last time out, losing by two goals to one and have plenty to be optimistic about ahead of this home clash with Hertha. The visitors are coming off the back of having beaten lowly Arminia Bielefeld and won’t prove pushovers here for the hosts. However, Mainz represent far stronger opposition than Arminia and are unbeaten in their last five home matches in all competitions. It would be a surprise if Mainz were not to pick up at least a point against a Hertha side who have gained just a point from their last three away Bundesliga fixtures and the safe play would be to back Mainz via the double chance market.
