HOFFENHEIM PREVIEW: THREE STRAIGHT DEFEATS PILES PRESSURE ON HOSTS

After winning their opening league game of the campaign, it’s been downhill from there for Hoffenheim and Pellegrino Matarazzo. Losses in three consecutive Bundesliga fixtures has seen them drop down the table and they come into this match now inside the relegation places on just three points.

Their most recent game in the Bundesliga ended in a 2-1 defeat away to Union Berlin. Since then, they’ve competed in the Europa League, drawing 1-1 against Midtjylland, meaning they’ve now gone four fixtures in all competitions without a win.

WERDER BREMEN PREVIEW: ONE WIN FROM FOUR SO FAR

Werder Bremen need to pick themselves up quickly after finding themselves on the end of a 0-5 hammering at the ends of Bayern Munich last time out. Whilst this is no shame as many teams will likely be beaten heavily by the Rekordmeister this season, it does leave them still on five points and 12th place in the table.

They’ll need to improve from an attacking perspective with just four league goals scored this season so far, but Hoffenheim represent the ideal opposition for them to do that when considering their struggles defensively.

HOFFENHEIM TEAM NEWS: HOST SWEATING ON KRAMARIC AVAILABILITY

Hoffenheim await news regarding the fitness of a number of their players ahead of this one, including central midfielder Dennis Geiger and star striker Andrej Kramaric, who is suffering from illness.

PREDICTED XI: (3-4-3): Baumann; Drexler, Grillitsch, Akpoguma; Kaderabek, Bischof, Tohumcu, Prass; Hlozek, Kramaric, Bulter

UNAVAILABLE: Bebou (Injured), Jurasek (Injured), Kabak (Injured), Promel (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Becker (Injured), Geiger (Injured), Gendrey (Injured), Kramaric (Illness), Stach (Illness)

WERDER BREMEN TEAM NEWS: NJINMAH INJURY COULD MEAN CHANGE IN FORMATION

It would be no surprise to see Werder revert to a 3-4-3 formation from Schmid and Grull operating either side of forward Marvin Ducksch up top due to the absence of Ducksch’s strike partner Justin Njinmah.

PREDICTED XI: (3-4-3): Zetterer; Pieper, Stark, Jung; Weiser, Lynen, Stage, Agu; Schmid, Ducksch, Grull

UNAVAILABLE: Friedl (Suspended), Njinmah (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Veljkovic (Injured)

HOFFENHEIM VS WERDER BREMEN PREDICTION

It would be no surprise if we saw an entertaining encounter between two teams in real need of three points. Hoffenheim have the onus to take the game to Werder offensively being at home, but their backline is notoriously weak with 11 goals already conceded this campaign. Goals are expected here and backing over 2.5 of them has to be favoured, regardless of who comes out on top.

HOFFENHEIM VS WERDER BREMEN TIP: OVER 2.5 GOALS
