Freiburg will have been glad that the international break came when it did, giving them two weeks to get over the shock of being thrashed by Stuttgart. Christian Streich’s side were blown away in the first 20 minutes, which saw them go three nil down. It didn’t get better for them in the second half, as Stuttgart added a further two goals, subjecting Freiburg to their first loss of the season.
To have seen their 100% record ended in such a manner will have been extremely disappointing for Streich to witness, but they’ve been afforded to great opportunity to bounce back at the first time of asking when considering Borussia Dortmund’s recent struggles. They’ll need to start much better though, which you’d expect with them being at home this time.

All is not well within the Borussia Dortmund camp after blowing a two-goal-lead at home to newly promoted Heidenheim before the international break. That result was greeted with fury inside Signal Iduna Park on the full-time whistle and has piled the pressure on head coach Edin Terzic, with speculation now growing over his future at the club.
As it stands, Dortmund are ninth-place in the Bundesliga table with five points from a possible nine. Their only victory came against FC Cologne, which required a late winner from Donyell Malen. Since then, consecutive draws against Bochum and Heidenheim have already left them playing catch-up, which they can’t afford when considering the 100% starts of both Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.

Borussia Dortmund are feeling the heat right now and Freiburg will be sensing the opportunity to capitalise. Should the hosts score first, it could be very hard for Terzic’s men to come back. However, as shown against Heidenheim, it would be no surprise if nerves took hold within the Dortmund squad the longer this match goes on, even if they were in the lead. When taking into account the currently vulnerability of BVB, backing Freiburg to gain at least a point, if not all three looks a shrewd play.
