THE PREDICTION

Mainz’s 4-0 thrashing of Hertha in midweek took them into the European places and if they wish to stay there over the winter break, then three points here away at Eintracht Frankfurt would do the trick. The hosts however, will have the same ambitions, as only goal difference currently separates them and Mainz in the Bundesliga table. Each side will be aware of the ramifications a loss would bring here in terms of the table and are both likely to prioritise defensive stability as a result. This may lead to a tight affair which is short in terms of goalmouth action, so consider backing under 2.5 goals scored across the 90 minutes.
