THE LOWDOWN

DARMSTADT

Darmstadt cannot stop leaking goals and it continues to hinder their attempts to pick up points. Last time out, Stuttgart put three past them in a 3-1 home victory, taking Darmstadt’s total tally to 16 goals conceded this season so far, the joint-worst record in the Bundesliga heading into this latest round of matches.

It’s now four defeats and one draw for the hosts after five league matches, their only point coming against Borussia Monchengladbach in a 3-3 thriller. But with each of their last four having seen them ship a minimum of three goals, something has to change if results are to improve for the newly promoted side.

WERDER BREMEN

Werder Bremen make the trip to Darmstadt on a high and on the back of victory at home to FC Cologne, Werder’s second win in their most recent three league games. Their away form though, remains a big concern but this encounter represents their best chance yet to start picking up points on the road.

After falling behind against FC Cologne just past the half-hour mark, Werder Bremen rallied and drew level through striker Rafael Borre, before Justin Njinmah scored the winner midway through the second period, pulling Werder well clear of the relegation places as it stands.

THE TEAM NEWS

DARMSTADT

Darmstadt have a number of players potentially doubtful due to illness. Braydon Manu has suffered from tonsillitis, whilst Fabian Nurnberger and Oscar Vilhelmsson have both been ill this past week. Striker Fabio Torsiello and centre-back Christoph Zimmermann are both out injured.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Schuhen; Klarer, Gjasula, Maglica; Bader, Mehlem, Holland, Karic; Skarke, Pfeiffer, Honsak

UNAVAILABLE: Torsiello (Injured), Zimmermann (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Manu (Illness), Nurnberger (Illness), Vilhelmsson (Illness)

WERDER BREMEN

Werder Bremen fans will be hoping that this is the game they see midfielder Naby Keita in the squad, having not seen their new signing at all yet this season. Niklas Stark is a huge doubt and is unlikely to feature, forcing Werder into changing their team who defeated FC Cologne with Marco Friedl likely to come into the backline.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Pavlenka; Pieper, Veljkovic, Friedl; Weiser, Schmid, Lynen, Stage, Deman; Borre, Ducksch

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Stark (Injured), Keita (Fitness)

THE PREDICTION

The reality of Bundesliga life has certainly dawned on Darmstadt, who are under pressure with just a point to their name and already inside the automatic relegation places. Werder Bremen though, have looked to have firmly turned a corner following their poor start to the campaign and are in a good position to extend Darmstadt’s top flight misery so far this season. Consider utilising the draw no bet market for extra security and back a Werder Bremen victory here.

TIP: WERDER BREMEN DRAW NO BET
