BORUSSIA DORTMUND PREVIEW: YET TO CLICK OFFENSIVELY DESPITE STABLE BACKLINE
After beating Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in their opening Bundesliga match of the season, Borussia Dortmund could not find a way through Werder Bremen in their most recent game and ended the contest arguably the happier at drawing 0-0 following a 73rd minute red card given to defender Nico Schlotterbeck, which left Nuri Sahin’s men vulnerable at the back.
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens remains the only player to have found the net for Dortmund so far in the 2024-25 Bundesliga, with the likes of Donyell Malen, Maximilian Beier and Karim Adeyemi each yet to score this campaign. That must change sooner rather than later for BVB to be successful moving forward.
HEIDENHEIM PREVIEW: ONE OF THE FORM SIDES ACROSS ALL OF EUROPE
Frank Schmidt’s Heidenheim continue to make new memories with every passing week. Not only have they booked a place in the Europa Conference League group stage for the first time in their history, an electric start to the season sees them top the Bundesliga table on goal difference. This was a club that only two years ago were in the second tier of German football having never reached the top flight.
To have won each of their last five in all competitions, especially after having sold a number of key players from last season, speaks a lot as to the well-drilled, ruthless and fearless nature of this Heidenheim side and they travel to Dortmund with happy memories, having come from two goals down to draw this fixture 2-2 last season.
BORUSSIA DORTMUND TEAM NEWS: BENSEBAINI LIKELY TO REPLACE SUSPENDED SCHLOTTERBECK
With Nico Schlotterback suspended following his sending off against Werder Bremen, Ramy Bensebaini should come into the side at left-back. Serhou Guirassy remains doubtful through injury, whilst Giovanni Reyna is out for a few weeks with a groin problem.
PREDICTED XI: (4-2-3-1): Kobel; Ryerson, Anton, Sule, Bensebaini; Can, Gross; Sabitzer, Brandt, Adeyemi; Beier
UNAVAILABLE: Reyna (Injured), Schlotterbeck (Suspended)
QUESTIONABLE: Guirassy (Injured)
HEIDENHEIM TEAM NEWS: COULD BE UNCHANGED FOLLOWING AUGSBURG WIN
After a 4-0 victory, it’s hard not to see Heidenheim naming the same starting XI for this next match. That would mean Beck, Wanna and Scienza playing behind Marvin Pieringer up top. Maloney and Schoppner should remain the preferred central midfield partnership.
PREDICTED XI: (4-2-3-1): Muller; Traore, Mainka, Gimber, Fohrenbach; Maloney, Schoppner; Beck, Wanner, Scienza; Pieringer

BORUSSIA DORTMUND VS HEIDENHEIM PREDICTION
Heidenheim took a point from Signal Iduna Park last season, so Borussia Dortmund will be well aware of the threat they pose, despite their being a new man in charge of the hosts now. However, the worry for Dortmund is their lack of goals with just two scored so far in the Bundesliga compared to Heidenheim’s six. On the flip side though, Dortmund can also boast they are yet to concede a league goal, so Heidenheim certainly won’t find it as easy to score in this one.
If Nuri Sahin can get his Dortmund side to click from an attacking perspective, then the players at his disposal should overwhelm Heidenheim. When you also take into account the strength-in-depth available on the home team’s bench, then it’s worth backing BVB to bring Heidenheim’s unbeaten run to an end.
