THE LOWDOWN

BORUSSIA DORTMUND

Borussia Dortmund have come out of the traps flying following the resumption of the Bundesliga post-winter break. Both their games played have seen them win away from home against Darmstadt and FC Cologne respectively, racking up seven goals with none conceded. This leaves them currently outside the bottom four on goal difference only.

The return of Jadon Sancho has also served to give everyone around the club a huge boost. After a nightmare spell at Man Utd, the winger will be looking to get his career back on track and it would be no surprise to see him play from the start here as he did against FC Cologne last time out.

BOCHUM

Bochum travel to Dortmund in form, having gained four points from six across their last two league matches. They backed up a 1-1 draw against Werder Bremen with an impressive 1-0 win over third-placed Stuttgart, taking advantage of a weakened visiting side without key striker Serhou Guirassy.

Going into the weekend, Bochum are nine points clear of the bottom three, although that gap may well have narrowed by the time that they kick off late on Sunday afternoon. This underlines the importance of getting something from this game, as difficult as it will no doubt prove to be.

THE PREDICTION

Borussia Dortmund are more than capable of putting a long run of positive results together that parachute them back into the top four and keeps them there, although home games against the likes of Bochum are must-win games, with all due respect to the visitors. When comparing the two squads, Dortmund’s is higher in quality with significantly stronger strength-in-depth, which should see them through to three points here.
