THE LOWDOWN
BOCHUM
What Bochum can lack at times in terms of overall quality, they make up for in fight and resilience. Twice they came from behind away to Augsburg, a brace from Takuma Asano helping them secure a battling point, their second straight draw after holding rivals Borussia Dortmund a week prior to that. This keeps them above the bottom three.
Knowing their opponents are also coming off the back of consecutive draws and have struggle in front of goal, Bochum could well sense that three points are for the taking if they can get their noses ahead as they did against Dortmund, although they’ll need to tighten up defensively.
EINTRACHT FRANKFURT
Whilst Eintracht Frankfurt remain unbeaten in the 2023-24 Bundesliga, it has been an underwhelming start, picking up five points from a possible nine having had a fairly friendly few fixtures to begin with on paper. It could have been even worse for them after falling behind at home to FC Cologne most recently, but they managed to break through their stubborn opponents in the final few minutes of normal time, Niels Nkounkou grabbing them a draw.
Eintracht are yet to score more than just one goal in a Bundesliga fixture this season and are yet to figure out a solution for how to handle the departure of striker Randal Kolo Muani to PSG on transfer deadline day. Supporters will hope that the international break helped in this regard.
THE TEAM NEWS
BOCHUM
Right-back Jordi Osei-Tutu has suffered a knock which keeps him out of contention here and he isn’t the only Bochum playing on the treatment table. Michael Esser, Lys Mousset and Mohammad Tolba are all unavailable to Thomas Letsch for the visit of Eintract.
PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Riemann; Masovic, Ordets, Bernardo; Passlack, Bero, Losilla, Stoger, Wittek; Asano, Hofmann
UNAVAILABLE: Esser (knee), Mousset (Achilles), Osei-Tutu (knock), Tolba (knee)
QUESTIONABLE:
EINTRACHT FRANKFURT
After scoring Eintracht Frankfurt’s equaliser against FC Cologne, Nkounkou has made a case to appear from the start at Bochum. Dino Toppmoller also has a decision to make regarding who starts up top for the visitors, with Jessic Ngankam and Egyptian Omar Marmoush the main candidates.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Trapp; Tuta, Koch, Pacho; Buta, Rode, Shkiri, Dina Ebimbe; Lindstrom Ngankam, Gotze
UNAVAILABLE:
QUESTIONABLE: Alario (Injured), Jakic (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
This represents a big opportunity for Bochum to gain what would be a psychologically huge three points against one of the Bundesliga’s bigger hitters. Eintracht Frankfurt have not looked like the side that have been so successful in recent seasons across all competitions and you feel Toppmoller is still figuring out his best team and getting them to adapt to how he wants them to play both with and without the ball. If Bochum replicate the performance levels shown in their last home match vs Dortmund, they are more than capable of winning, so consider backing them to do so via the safety of the draw no bet market.
