BOCHUM PREVIEW: LEIPZIG TOO STRONG DESPITE SENDING OFF

Bochum were expected to come out with nothing against RB Leipzig in their first game of the new campaign, but they certainly gave Marco Rose’s side a scare and put them under pressure when considering that the hosts finished the contest with ten men after captain Willi Orban was sent off.

In the end, Bochum recorded ten shots with four on target, more than their opponents but couldn’t take advantage of the extra man. They return home looking to get that all-important first victory vs a team who conceded three goals in their opening match.

BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH PREVIEW: GLADBACH LATEST VICTIMS OF THE LEVERKUSEN LATE SHOW

Borussia Monchengladbach aren’t the first and probably won’t be the last this season to fall victims of a Bayer Leverkusen late goal, which ultimately cost them a point after a fantastic comeback on the opening night of the 2024-25 Bundesliga campaign. After going two goals behind, Gladbach came back in the second half to shock the reigning champions.

Nico Elvedi pulled one back before new signing Tim Kleindienst on his Bundesliga debut for Gladbach equalised with five minutes of normal time remaining. But second half stoppage time has long been Leverkusen’s friend under Xabi Alonso and proved so again here, the visitors scoring a winner in the 101st minute.

BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH TEAM NEWS: HACK DOUBTFUL FOR BOCHUM TRIP

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Omlin; Scally, Itakura, Elvedi, Netz; Reitz, Weigl; Honorat, Stoger, Plea; Kleindienst

BOCHUM VS BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH PREDICTION

The need of both these two clubs to get off the mark in the Bundesliga this season is likely to lead to this being quite an open encounter. Each will probably see this fixture as extremely winnable and won’t be afraid to try and grab the initiative offensively and chances are expected at both ends of the pitch.

Whilst the outcome itself really could go either way, the smart move for bettors would be backing both teams to score over the course of 90 minutes.
