THE PREDICTION

Schalke’s thrilling 4-3 win over Eintracht Frankfurt last Saturday was a rare high in what has been a disastrous season. That will give the Royal Blues some confidence as they look to bow out of the Bundesliga in style, but they go into this meeting with a depleted squad. As well as seven long-term injury absentees, coach Dimitrios Grammozis will also be without six unnamed players due to coronavirus. That is welcome news to Koln, who need at least a point and possibly more to avoid joining Schalke in the second tier next season. The battling Billy Goats have taken seven points from their last four games and the visitors are there for the taking, but they have registered just one clean sheet in their last 21 league games at home. A Koln win with both teams to score is therefore an appealing option here.
