THE TEAM NEWS

Predicted line-up (4-1-2-1-2): Kobel; Stenzel, Phillips, Kempf, Sosa; Karazor; Castro, Ascacibar; Didavi; Al Ghaddioui, Gomez
Unavailable: Kalajdzic (Injured), Insua (Injured), Kaminski (Injured)

- Stuttgart have made a steady start to life under new coach Tim Walter, collecting four points from two league games and beating Hansa Rostock 1-0 in the first round of the DFB Cup on Monday.
- Monday's victory came at a cost with defensive duo Orel Mangala and Holger Badstuber both forced off with injuries, leaving them major doubts for this match, but striker Nicolas Gonzalez is back from international duty.
- Badstuber's injury could mean a full debut for Liverpool loanee Nathaniel Phillips, while two more new signings have arrived this week in midfielder Wataru Endo and highly rated 19-year-old striker Silas Wamangituka.
ST. PAULI
Predicted line-up (4-1-4-1): Himmelmann; Park, Hoffmann, Knoll, Buballa; Hornschuh; Miyaichi, Buchtmann, Daehli, Sobota; Diamantakos
Unavailable: Veerman (Injured), Tashchy (Injured), Flum (Injured), Ostigard (Injured), Avevor (Injured)
Doubtful: Ziereis (Injured), Zander (Injured), Becker (Injured), Coordes (Injured), Benatelli (Injured)
- St. Pauli needed penalties to get past fourth-tier side Lubeck in the DFB Cup on Sunday having been tied at 3-3 after extra time, and they are waiting for their first win in Bundesliga II this season.
- Coach Jos Luhukay was without 10 players for the trip to Lubeck and he has even been critical of his players for picking up so many injuries early in the season, although several are back in training and close to returning.
- Captain Christopher Avevor is out for the foreseeable future following surgery on a fibula fracture so Marc Hornschuh is set to start again, with Luhukay expected to revert to the 4-1-4-1 formation used in both league games.
BETTING ANALYSIS
Stuttgart have lost just one of their last eight games at the Mercedes-Benz Arena and they have also won their last eight meetings with St. Pauli. The visitors have not enjoyed the best start to the season and have been hit by injuries, so Stuttgart should be expected to continue that winning run.
