THE LOWDOWN

STRASBOURG

Off-field protests have overshadowed Strasbourg’s season as supporters oppose the takeover of the famous Alsace-based club by BlueCo, led by Todd Boehly, which has effectively made Strasbourg a feeder club to Chelsea. Patrick Vieira remains in charge of the underperformers as they sit in the bottom-half of the table.

They do, though, appear to be coming through a major mid-season wobble as they come into this one on the back of a goalless draw with Toulouse in their most recent outing, last weekend. That draw means they have now suffered just one defeat in their last six matches inside 90 minutes across all competitions.

REIMS

After spending quite heavily in both the summer transfer window and the January transfer window, Stade de Reims have been under a bit of pressure this season and especially manager Will Still, with the English-Belgian coach openly talking about how he would be open to a Championship job in England, amid being linked with the Sunderland job.

Reims have steadied their form of late with three draws and a victory in their last four matches but they remain outside of the top six and the European spots ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures. Their most recent outing saw them share a goalless draw with Nice after drawing 1-1 with Lyon on return from the March international break.

THE PREDICTION

Patrick Vieira is generally perceived as a proactive and front foot coach with an intention to play an easy on the eye style of football. However, they have been regularly disjointed and have managed 30 goals in their 28 matches so far this season. Reims are trying to steady their form by becoming a bit more reactive and that is also shown in Will Still’s desire to play a flat 3-5-2 system. A low-scoring encounter seems quite likely for this one with under 3.5 goals to be expected.
