STRASBOURG PREVIEW: FUN BUT INEFFECTIVE

With BlueCo ownership, Strasbourg have spent a fair bit money but supporters remain, understandably, extremely unhappy at their storied and famous club becoming essentially a feeder club to Premier League opposition.

The Alsace-based opposition have managed just one win in their opening five matches with some enterprising football played but ineffectiveness at both ends of the pitch akin to Rosenior’s Hull City. The home team come into this weekend on the back of a thrilling 3-3 draw against Lille last weekend with Jonathan David snatching a point from the penalty spot in the 84th minute for Lille.

MARSEILLE PREVIEW: TITLE CHALLENGING MARSEILLE

Former Brighton and Hove Albion, Shakhtar Donetsk and Roma boss Roberto De Zerbi has taken charge of an Olympique de Marseille that are once again undergoing another evolution and revolution this summer.

With a lot of money spent on several questionable and outright controversial characters, Marseille have begun the 2024/25 Ligue 1 season with four victories and a draw in their opening six matches. The visitors have been firing throughout the campaign with 15 goals scored in their opening five matches after a last gasp 3-2 win against Olympique Lyonnais last week in which Jonathan Rowe scored a late winner.

STRASBOURG VS MARSEILLE PREDICTION

Their five matches so far this season have consisted of 21 goals with just three teams having managed to score more than them but only five conceding more – and yet Strasbourg are yet to show what they truly are about. They face a Marseille side that have adapted quickly to De Zerbi and, as mentioned, will be looking to mount a title challenge with a fun and entertaining style of football. A high-scoring affair does seem likely for this one.
