THE LOWDOWN

PSG

Defending champions and league leaders Paris Saint-Germain kept up their hopes and ambitious for a first ever treble by defeating Stade Brest by three goals to one in the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France at Parc des Princes in midweek. Kylian Mbappe, Danilo Pereira and Goncalo Ramos were on he scoresheet in that one on Wednesday evening.

That result means that PSG are now unbeaten in their last 15 matches across all competitions. In those 15 matches, they have scored a combined total of 42 goals and have opened up a lead of eight points at the top-of-the-table above Nice. They are still, though, not yet at complete maximum efficiency playing the style of football that Luis Enrique is intending to implement.

LILLE

Coached by former Roma and Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca, Lille have performed extremely well across all competitions so far this season but they come into this on the back of an underwhelming start to the year. The northerners were beaten 2-1 by Olympique Lyonnais in midweek in the Round of 16 of Ligue 1 with Gift Orban and Rayan Cherki enough to see off an Alexsandro consolation.

They begin this match day sitting just inside the top four as they compete for potential UEFA Champions League qualification and they did manage an impressive 4-0 hammering of bottom-of-the-table Clermont in the league last weekend. Lille have played 31 matches across all competitions so far this season and they have kept 18 clean sheets in those matches.

THE PREDICTION

As mentioned, Paris Saint-Germain have been in excellent form of late but there is still something missing in attack for the Parisiens. Luis Enrique does appear to still be undecided on which attackers will form his front three – or even whether it will be a front three in the big games at the back end of the season. They face a Lille side that, despite their generally fluent style of football, have been extremely solid at the back so far this season. PSG are favourites to win, especially at home, but Lille are likely to make it tough for them.

TIP: PSG TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
