THE LOWDOWN
NICE
Francesco Farioli was an unusual and surprising appointment in the summer but Nice started the season extremely well as they challenged towards the top end of the Ligue 1 table but the southerners’ lack of goals and reactive style of football was always a concern and has majorly hurt them as they drift outside of the top three and the UEFA Champions League qualifying spots.
Nice come into this one on the back of a goalless draw away to Stade de Reims in their most recent outing a couple of weeks ago. That means Nice have managed just one victory in their last nine matches and they have managed to score just 28 goals in 28 games with only two teams having scored fewer than them so far this season.
LORIENT
Off-field protests have dogged Lorient throughout the campaign with supporters unhappy at an American-led takeover by Bill Foley which has effectively made Lorient something of a feeder club to Premier League side AFC Bournemouth. That has affected performances and results on the pitch as Lorient battle against the drop.
They have stuck by manager Regis Le Bris, who led them to a top-half finish last season, with performances very much improving in the second-half of the campaign. They do, though, begin this weekend sitting third from bottom and in the relegation playoff place after collecting just a point from their last four Ligue 1 matches.
THE TEAM NEWS

Nice have three injury concerns for this weekend’s visit of Lorient as Valentin Rosier is sidelined alongside both Sofiane Diop and Yossuouf Ndayishimiye.

LORIENT
Tunisian international defender Montassar Talbi as well as the likes of Bonke Innocent, Quentin Boisgard and Igor Silva remain unavailable for injury.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Mvogo; Mendy, Adjei, Toure; Katseris, Abergel, Louza, Yongwa; Bouanani, Kari; Bamba
UNAVAILABLE: Talbi (Injured), Innocent (Injured), Silva (Injured), Boisgard (Injured)

THE PREDICTION
In the Ligue 1 table, this one would appear to be a bit of a mis-match as Nice sit tucked inside the European spots and Lorient languish in the relegation battle. However, ever since the turn of the year, the two sides have been relatively evenly matched and we could well have an upset at the Allianz Riviera. Nice struggle to score against almost anybody, whilst Lorient have had a defensive issue throughout the campaign but remained good going forward. As a result, backing a surprise Lorient win would seem good value.
TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – LORIENT TO WIN OR DRAW
