THE LOWDOWN
NANTES
Under the management of Pierre Aristouy, the 2022 Coupe de France and 2023 Coupe de France runners’ up, Nantes, have struggled for any form throughout this season and have fallen very much into the relegation battle so the decision was taken to replace Aristouy with Jocelyn Gourvennac a few weeks ago.
Gourvennac’s reign began with a victory away to Toulouse, defeating the in-form opposition by two goals to one at Stadium de Toulouse with strikers from Mostafa Mohamed and Tino Kadewere. After a valiant performance but ultimately a 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain a week later, Nantes then edged past Lorient by a goal to nil last weekend.
METZ
Following promotion back to the top-flight last season, it has been a really tricky campaign for Metz thus far as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the bottom two and the automatic relegation places with four victories, five draws and 14 defeats in their 23 matches so far this season.
Hungarian coach Laszlo Boloni is under a fair bit of pressure in charge of Metz, too, as their form has fallen off a cliff in recent times. They come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to Olympique Lyonnais in a game in which they had the lead via Georges Mikautadze but fell behind to goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Mohamed Said Benrahma.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Oukidja; Colin, Herelle, Sane, Udol; Asoro, Camara, Jacques, Sabaly; Mikautadze, Lamkel Ze

THE PREDICTION
These are two poor sides that have struggled throughout this campaign and they are very much in the relegation battle but there is a real difference in the level of quality between these two sides. Nantes have managed two wins in three matches since the appointment of Jocelyn Gourvennac and they are the firm favourites for this one, especially with their home advantage, against a really poor and out of form Metz side.
TIP: NANTES TO WIN
