THE LOWDOWN

MONACO

It was an emphatic victory for UEFA Champions League qualification-chasing Monaco as they hammered Metz by five goals to two last weekend with goals coming from Takumi Minamino, Maghnes Akliouche, Vanderson and then a brace from United States international striker, Folarin Balogun.

Under the management of former Borussia Monchengladbach boss Adi Hutter, the Monagasque have been one of the most entertaining teams in the country this season as they hover just outside of the to #p three in the Ligue 1 table. Their 27 matches so far this year have consisted of a combined total of 90 goals.

RENNES

It was a difficult summer transfer window for Stade Rennais and that then led to a slow start to the campaign but they have been majorly improved since the return to the club of Julian Stephan, replacing Bruno Genesio during the November international break. They are trying to challenge for European qualification, once again.

However, the visitors do come into this one on the back of some indifferent form and they have slipped up a little bit. Rennes come into this one on the back of a 1-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France in midweek, meaning they have now just four of their last ten matches across all competitions.

THE TEAM NEWS

MONACO

Monaco have a couple of absentees for this weekend as defender Guillermo Maripan and midfielder Mohamed Camara are missing through injury,

QUESTIONABLE:

RENNES

Stade Rennais have no injury concerns or suspension issues for this weekend and they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for the visit to the principality.

THE PREDICTION

This is a match up between two of the more proactive sides in France’s top-flight with Monao playing an intense pressing style that leaves them open at the back under Adi Hutter. Rennes, on the other hand, struggled for victories at the start of this season because Genesio couldn’t get the best out of their array of attackers but Stephan has improved that. These are fun but inconsistent teams and both teams scoring would appear a good bet for this one.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
