MONACO PREVIEW: THE EXCITING MONAGASQUE

Under the management of former Borussia Monchengladbach boss Adi Hutter, Monaco went into the campaign on the back of a 3-0 hammering of Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy a week before the season at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys. That intense style has been carried into this campaign.

With smart recruitment and on the back of a second place finish last year, Monaco will hope they can make a fist of a title challenge this time around. Their opening game saw them edge past newly-promoted Saint-Etienne by a goal to nil before they then went away to Olympique Lyonnais and won by two goals to nil at Parc OL.

LENS PREVIEW: EURO FRUSTRATION FOR LENS

Lens have been a smartly run club for a few years now and, with the departure of Franck Haise to Nice, they decided to appoint former Stade de Reims boss Will Still. The English-Belgian coach won his first three games in charge across all competitions but the northerners have been left frustrated ahead of this weekend.

In midweek, they went to Athens to face Panathinaikos and suffered a 2-0 defeat to lose by three goals to two on aggregate in the playoff round of the UEFA Europa Conference League. In Ligue 1, they started the season with a 1-0 win at Angers before comfortably defeating Stade Brest by two goals to nil last week.

MONACO VS LENS PREDICTION

There is the possibility of a bit of a hangover for Lens in this one as they travel to Stade Louis II. The fact that they will be immensely disappointed to have missed out on European competition for the first half of this season, the visitors are also likely to be a lot more fatigued than Monaco having played twice as many matches in the opening month of the campaign. As a result, especially with their home advantage, backing Monaco looks the way to go for this one.
