THE LOWDOWN
LYON
Olympique Lyonnais have been in magnificent form over the last few months after a really difficult start to the 2023/24 campaign. Laurent Blanc was sacked during the September international break after a turbulent and topsy turvy summer before Fabio Grosso was then relieved of his duties in late-November.
He was replaced by Pierre Sage in early December and he has got them playing the right way. They come into this one on the back of defeating Strasbourg on penalties in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France. They have suffered just two defeats in their last 13 matches across all competitions.
LENS
After finishing as runners’ up last season, Lens lost some key men over the summer before starting extremely slowly but since the end of September, they have returned to being one of the absolute strongest teams in Ligue 1. They begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just about tucked inside the top six and the European qualification spots.
Lens come into this one on the back of back-to-back 3-2 defeats in the last ten days or so. They were knocked out of the UEFA Europa League at the knockout playoff round against Bundesliga side, Freiburg, before they were beaten 3-2 by Monaco at Stade Bollaert-Delelis with a 92nd minute winning goal from Takumi Minamino.
THE TEAM NEWS

LENS
Lens have three injury concerns for this weekend with the likes of Jimmy Cabot, Deiver Machado and Massadio Haidara all unavailable for this one.

THE PREDICTION
A few weeks ago, Lens were performing really well and looking like they were again arguably the second or third best team in the division. However, they have since slipped down away from the top five. Lens will go to Parc OL and get on the front foot but the impressive form of Lyon means they remain the favourites for this one, especially with their home advantage, for a game that should be good to watch for the neutral.
TIP: LYON TO WIN & BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
