THE LOWDOWN

LORIENT

Under the management of Regis Le Bris, Lorient begin this week sitting in the bottom two and the automatic relegation places in Ligue 1. They had appeared to turn things around at the start of this calendar year but suffered another defeat last weekend as they were hammered 3-0 by an out of form Nice side at the Allianz Riviera.

Goals from Morgan Sanson, Jeremie Boga and Evann Guessand gave Lorient their defeat and means they have now collected just one point from their last five matches in Ligue 1. Lorient have been blighted by off-field supporter protests throughout the campaign due to an American takeover of the club in the summer which has made them a feeder club to AFC Bournemouth.

PSG

Defending champions and runaway league leaders Paris Saint-Germain begin this week sitting 11 points clear of Monaco with five games of the Ligue 1 season to go. The Parisiens have been really impressive with just one defeat in Ligue 1 all season and Luis Enrique is already discussing the potential fairytale ending for Kylian Mbappe of a potential treble this season.

PSG come into this one on the back of a 4-1 hammering of Olympique Lyonnais in their most recent outing last weekend at Parc des Princes. PSG raced into a 2-0 lead inside six minutes with an own goal from Nemanja Matic and then a strike from Lucas Beraldo. Goncalo Ramos’ brace sandwiched an Ernest Nuamah goal before half-time to make it 4-1 in the first-half.

THE PREDICTION

A Lorient victory would move them level with Metz sitting just outside of the bottom three and the danger zone so they do remain firmly involved in the battle but they are expected to find no joy as they welcome PSG this week. PSG will likely welcome both Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe back into their eleven as they were rested at the weekend and a comfortable and potentially heavy away win is to be expected for this one.

TIP: PSG TO WIN
