LILLE PREVIEW: LILLE HAVING IT LARGE
Paulo Fonseca did a very good job at Lille but he departed the northerners to begin a rebuild of AC Milan after the departure of Stefano Pioli. He was replaced by former Olympique Lyonnais and Stade Rennais boss Bruno Genesio, who has enjoyed a magnificent start to life in the north across all competitions.
The home team come into this one on the back of a comfortable and impressive 2-0 defeat of Lens in Derby du Nord at the weekend. They begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting tucked inside the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots with eight victories, two draws and four defeats across all competitions so far this season.
LYON PREVIEW: NEED TO REDISCOVER CONSISTENCY
Last season, Lyon were rock-bottom as they went into December after the sackings of Fabio Grosso and Laurent Blanc with Pierre Sage then appointed and able to lift OL to sixth in Ligue 1 as well as the Coupe de France final. They started this season slowly after a poor summer transfer window but come into this on the back of some excellent form.
However, that good form has been undermined after a couple of lacklustre performances at Parc OL in which they were beaten 1-0 by Besiktas in the UEFA Europa League last week and a 2-2 draw at home to Auxerre. Those results followed on from five successive victories across all competitions.
LILLE TEAM NEWS: LOTS OF ISSUES
Lille are dealing with several injury and suspension issues for this weekend’s visit of Lyon with defender Alexsandro missing this weekend’s clash due to a red card against Lens.
They also have several injury issues for this one with the likes of Tiago Santos, Mitchell Bakker, Hakan Haraldsson and Remy Cabella all sidelined through injury.

LYON TEAM NEWS: FULLY FIT LYON
Pierre Sage has a very deep squad and has been able to rotate throughout this season, as shown best by Georges Mikautadze notching a brace against Auxerre last weekend.
The visitors have a fully fit and available squad for this weekend’s clash against Lille so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven if they so choose.
PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Perri; Kumbedi, Caleta-Car, Niakhate, Tagliafico; Tessmann, Matic, Veretout; Benrahma, Mikautadze, Fofana

LILLE VS LYON PREDICTION
This has the potential to be a genuinely very exciting affair this week. Lille have an abundance of attacking and creative talent that is currently in a ‘good moment’ as those on the continent would say. Lyon are often chaotic and exciting at both ends of the pitch with their nine games so far this season showing that, too, consisting of 30 goals so far this season. Both teams scoring seems a good bet for this one.
