Coached by former Roma and Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca, Lille play an easy on the eye and entertaining style of football that is balanced against some genuine grit and efficiency at the back. For example, despite their attacking style, they have kept well over 20 clean sheets across all competitions so far this season.
The northerners come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat of struggling but fighting Metz away from home, last weekend. After an extremely difficult summer, Olympique Lyonnais began the season extremely badly and both Laurent Blanc then Fabio Grosso were sacked as their manager with Lyon spending the majority of the first-half of the season sitting tucked inside the bottom two and the automatic relegation places. However, the appointment of Pierre Sage has turned things around at Parc OL.
