THE LOWDOWN

LE HAVRE

Le Havre gained promotion to the French top-flight for the first time in over 15 years at the end of last season and they have performed very well as they aim for a simple survival, which would be deemed as more than a successful campaign. They begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the top-half of the table.

The home team come into this on the back of a 2-1 win away to Toulouse in their most recent outing, last weekend. That means they are now unbeaten in their last three matches. Their impressive start to the season has been characterised by being difficult to beat with just three losses and 13 goals conceded.

MONACO

Under the management of former Borussia Monchengladbach coach Adi Hutter, Monaco are challenging to reclaim the Ligue 1 title this season as they sit in the top three ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures. The principality club have been very entertaining and enjoyable to watch with 39 goals coming in their 11 matches so far this season.

The Monagasque come into this on the back of a comfortable and impressive 2-0 victory at home to Stade Brest, who had started the season very well. That win made it four victories and a defeat in their last five matches as they challenge for the French title up towards the top-of-the-table with PSG and Nice.

THE TEAM NEWS

LE HAVRE

MONACO

Monaco will be without the likes of Mohammed Salisu, Caio Henriaue and Myron Boadu with several injury concerns for the visit to Le Havre.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Kohn; Singo, Maripan, Magassa; Diatta, Fofana, Zakaria, Jakobs; Akliouche, Golovin; Balogun

UNAVAILABLE: Boadu (Injured), Ben Seghir (Injured), Caio Henrique (Injured), Salisu (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

These are two sides with very different reputations and records in France’s top-flight over the last 20 years or so but a similar history and story. Le Havre have started well but are not expected to maintain the pace required to finish in the top-half this season and will now have to deal with a Monaco side frustrated by letting some ground slip at the top but still relentless in attack and the likelihood is simply that the visitors should come out on top.

BETTING TIP: MONACO TO WIN
