LE HAVRE PREVIEW: GOOD PERFORMANCES SO FAR

Le Havre gained promotion to the top-flight for the first time in 15 years in 2023 and Slovenian coach Luka Elsner impressively managed to avoid relegation before he departed for Reims and was replaced by former Middlesbrough midfielder Didier Digard in the dugout and Digard has started quite well.

They were beaten 4-1 by Paris Saint-Germain on the opening day of the season but that didn’t tell the whole story with it level at 1-1 with just over five minutes of the 90 to go. In their second match, they went away to newly-promoted Saint-Etienne and managed an impressive 2-0 victory.

AUXERRE PREVIEW: CONTENT WITH THEIR PERFORMANCES

Last season, Auxerre managed to return to the French top-flight as Ligue 2 champions and they have started their return to Ligue 1 in reasonable form with a win and a defeat in their opening two matches. On the opening day of the campaign, they welcomed Nice to Stade de l’Abbe Deschamps and pulled off a major surprise.

After going a goal down quite early to the southerners, they then managed to win by two goals to one with new signing Lasso Coulibaly scoring a winning goal deep into second-half stoppage-time. In their second game, though, they then suffered a 2-0 defeat to Nantes, albeit they were down to ten men for over half an hour and conceded their second in the 96th minute.

LE HAVRE VS AUXERRE PREDICTION

Le Havre have started the campaign quite positively with two good performances, albeit one of them ended in a 4-1 loss to the defending champions. They now welcome Auxerre and will have to have a similar gameplan as to the one that defeated another resolute newly-promoted side Saint-Etienne. Auxerre are, like Angers and ASSE who came up last season, quite reactive and defensive so a low-scoring encounter is expected but Le Havre, especially at Stade Oceane, are in a good position to make this a very strong start.

LE HAVRE VS AUXERRE TIP: LE HAVRE TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
