THE LOWDOWN
BREST
Under the management of former Sunderland player Eric Roy, Stade Brest are arguably the story of the season in European football this season as they begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting tucked inside the top three and the UEFA Champions League qualifying spots. They come into this on the back of yet another victory.
Brest went away to an improving Lorient side last weekend and eventually edged past them by a goal to nil with an 86th minute winning penalty scored by Romain Del Castillo. The home team have managed just one loss in their last 16 matches since back-to-back defeats to Monaco and PSG in the autumn.
METZ
Following promotion last season, Metz have been relatively competitive in Ligue 1 this season as they head into the run in very much still involved in the relegation battle, coached by Hungarian boss Laszlo Boloni. They do, though, begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the bottom two and the automatic relegation places.
The visitors come into this one on the back of a 5-2 loss at home to Monaco in their most recent outing at Stade Saint-Symphonen, last weekend. Monaco raced into a 3-0 lead with goals from Takumi Minamino, Maghnes Akliouche and Vanderson before a brace from Folarin Balogun late on sealed the hammering for the Monagasque.

THE PREDICTION
At the start of this season, these two sides would have appeared relatively evenly matched but they have instead gone in two very different directions. Brest have majorly punched above their weight, whilst Metz have pretty much remained at the level that was expected of them. As Brest march towards historic UEFA Champions League qualification and a comfortable victory is expected for them, especially with their home advantage.
TIP: BREST TO WIN
