AUXERRE PREVIEW: IMPROVING AUXERRE
Having gained promotion to Ligue 1 last season, Auxerre have started the 2024/25 Ligue 1 campaign with three victories, a draw and five defeats in their opening nine matches so far this season. Their manager, Christopher Pelissier, has been able to put together some much-improved form of late.
The hosts come into this one on the back of suffering just one defeat in their last four matches. Their most recent outing saw them share an entertaining 2-2 draw with Olympique Lyonnais at Parc OL last weekend. That came on the back of victories against Stade Brest and Stade de Reims to sandwich a 3-1 loss to Saint-Etienne.
RENNES PREVIEW: RENNES NEED A RUN
During the November international break, Julian Stephan was appointed manager of Stade Rennais and things have been inconsistent ever since his arrival. That inconsistency has continued into the 2024/25 campaign with three victories, two draws and four defeats in their opening nine matches.
Stephan does remain in charge of Rennes at the moment but there has been a bit of inconsistency throughout the campaign. Their nine matches have consisted of 25 goals. The visitors come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat of struggling Le Havre last weekend thanks to a winner from Carlos Andres Gomez.
AUXERRE TEAM NEWS: SEVERAL ABSENTEES
Auxerre are dealing with several injury issues ahead of this weekend’s clash with Rennes as Gabriel Osho is sidelined alongside both Paul Joly and Ousoumane Camara.
There are no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues, though, so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this weekend’s clash if they so choose.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Leon; Diomande, Jubal, Akpa; Hoever, Danois, Owusu, Mensah; Perrin, Traore; Aye
UNAVAILABLE: Osho (Injured), Joly (Injured), Camara (Injured)

RENNES TEAM NEWS: SEIDU SUSPENDED
Rennes defender Alidu Seidu is unavailable for this weekend’s clash against Auxerre due to suspension as a result of picking up too many yellow cards.
As well as the centre-back, Rennes are also missing Danish midfielder Henrik Meister with a bruised knee but he has been unavailable for around a month or so.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Mandanda; Ostigard, Wooh, Faye, Truffert; Blas, Kamara; Andres Gomez, Gronbaek, Jota; Kalimuendo
UNAVAILABLE: Seidu (Suspended), Meister (Injured)

AUXERRE VS RENNES PREDICTION
Auxerre have actually been surprisingly entertaining to watch this season with 13 goals scored in nine Ligue 1 games showing that they have the capability to be competitive in the attacking third in the top-flight. They face a Rennes side that have also been entertaining to watch but without a consistency that Stephan requires. This one has the potential to be quite a fun game for the neutral with both teams scoring a good bet.
