THE PREDICTION
Bosnia-Herzegovina’s 2-2 draw against Finland in their opening qualifier will be received with mixed feelings. They took a second-half lead but had to score a late equaliser after falling behind. They come up against a France side who drew with Ukraine in their opening match but then defeated Kazakhstan away to the Kazakhs. Italy used to be known as the embodiment of a “tournament team”; as in, their pragmatism would be detrimental in qualifying or warm-up fixtures but extremely beneficial in the tournament. The French are quite similar with Deschamps’ template of focusing on control and rigidity with the abundance of attacking talent finding ways to get ahead being something attempted to be replicated by the likes of England and Portugal. Therefore, though, they are vulnerable to qualifiers like this; France should win but seven wins is the most they have ever had in qualifying groups; out of ten or 12 games.
