THE PREDICTION
Wigan may have won the FA Cup back in 2013, but following a Christmas schedule decimated by postponements, Latics are now playing catchup in the League One automatic promotion race and therefore may see this competition as less important than it might have been a month ago. Lancashire rivals Blackburn meanwhile, find themselves battling for a top two place in the Championship and with those glamourous Premier League headlights shining in the distance, they like Wigan aren’t expected to risk fielding key first-team players such as top scorer Ben Brereton Diaz. That makes this result difficult to call despite Blackburn being in a higher division, but with little pressure on either side, an entertaining encounter should be on the cards as both teams play with freedom going forward and license to push bodies up the field, with neither wanting to go through 30 minutes of extra time. With that in mind, backing over 2.5 goals to be scored in 90 minutes looks like the sensible move.
