Many pundits and supporters would suggest this one would make a worthy final given the performances of the two teams so far but only one of the two leading contenders for UEFA EURO 2024 will make it through to the semi-finals.

SPAIN PREVIEW: GOOD BETWEEN THE BOXES

Heading into the tournament, there were some major doubts about Spain at both ends of the pitch with La Roja being guilty of profligacy in attack and a lack of robust defending at the back. Luis de la Fuente’s side have, though, eased themselves into the quarter-finals with nine goals scored and just one goal conceded.

However, against Croatia, they gave up a lot of chances before being caught on counter-attacks against both Albania and Georgia. They look supreme on the ball and attack with intensity and vigour but this is the first real challenge of the tournament for the Spanish after the underwhelming campaigns and performances of Italy and Croatia.

GERMANY PREVIEW: LEARNING TO WIN AGAIN

After failing to win a single knockout match since UEFA EURO 2016, Die Mannschaft defeated Denmark by two goals to nil in a controversial encounter in Dortmund last weekend. With Denmark having a goal ruled out and then Germany being given what is quite a harsh penalty, albeit probably still the correct call, they did eventually get themselves over the line.

They lit up the tournament in the very first match with a 5-1 hammering of Scotland and they are the only team to have scored more goals in the competition than Spain with ten notched and they have conceded just two, too. The public and their imagination has been recaptured, now it is time to complete the job for Julian Nagelsmann.

SPAIN TEAM NEWS: DANI OLMO PUSHING

After a goal and another excellent cameo against Georgia, Dani Olmo is pushing for a starting spot in this Spain eleven but the only player he could really come in for would be Pedri, given the form of Fabian Ruiz, so that remains highly unlikely.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Unai Simon; Dani Carvajal, Le Normand, Laporte, Cucurella; Pedri, Rodri, Fabian Ruiz; Lamine Yamal, Alvaro Morata, Nico Williams

GERMANY TEAM NEWS: TAH RETURNS

Julian Nagelsmann was forced to swap out the suspended Jonathan Tah against Denmark with Nico Schlotterbeck, who did play well, coming in but Tah is expected to return. David Raum is expected to keep his place in the team ahead of of Maximilian Mittelstadt but the underwhelming Leroy Sane may find himself replaced again by Florian Wirtz on the right wing.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Kimmich, Rudiger, Tah, Raum; Andrich, Kroos; Wirtz, Gundogan, Musiala; Havertz

SPAIN VS GERMANY PREDICTION

We will hopefully have an absolute thriller for this first UEFA EURO 2024 quarter-final. The Spanish have been exhilarating to watch with their accuracy and precision in midfield combined with the unbelievable talents of Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal. Germany, though, have special talents of their own with potential Player of the Tournament Jamal Musiala enjoying a potential seminal major international tournament. It seems unlikely this will not be entertaining to watch and both teams scoring would appear a good bet.
