THE LOWDOWN
TOTTENHAM
- Tottenham have been in action since all the way back on December 5th when they beat Norwich 3-0 following a wave of Covid-19 cases which forced them to close their training ground and postpone two Premier League fixtures along with their final Europa Conference League group match.
- Several players are huge doubts for the visit of Liverpool depending on both their Covid-19 status and fitness, whilst defenders Cristian Romero and Sergio Reguilon are both injured, although the latter will likely feature for Spurs should he pass a late fitness test.
LIVERPOOL
- Liverpool kept the pressure on league leaders Man City with a comfortable 3-1 win over Newcastle in midweek, their sixth straight victory in the Premier League after being beaten by West Ham back in early November.
- After having tested positive for Covid-19, centre-back Virgil van Dijk alongside midfielders Fabinho and Curtis Jones both missed out against Newcastle and will do so again here, alongside the injured Adrian, Harvey Elliott and Nat Phillips.

THE PREDICTION
It will be interesting to see how Tottenham perform having been out of action for so long due to the Covid-19 outbreak within their camp. Liverpool in contrast, have played three times in all competitions since Spurs’ last competitive fixture, winning all three and are expected to come out of the blocks quickly in this one. No doubt that the hosts are a much-improved side under Antonio Conte and will prove tough nuts to crack for the Reds, however the quality of Liverpool going forward cannot be denied and backing Liverpool to triumph has to be considered the smart play in this contest.
Tip: LIVERPOOL TO WIN
