THE LOWDOWN
SOUTHAMPTON
- Southampton finally got themselves back to winning ways in the Premier League on Boxing Day at the seventh time of asking, as they defeated West Ham by three goals to two, an extremely impressive victory away from home.
- Jack Stephens and Brazilian Lyanco are all expected to miss out due to a COVID-19 enforced isolation, but Nathan Tella has a strong chance of being included.
TOTTENHAM
- Tottenham’s excellent recent form under Antonio Conte carried on over Christmas as they dispatched London rivals Crystal Palace 3-0 at home, their fourth win in six Premier League games since Conte took charge.
- Both Cristian Romero and Ryan Sessegnon missed the win over the Eagles and neither are expected to have recovered time from injury to feature in this one.

THE PREDICTION
It’s looking difficult to stop Tottenham at present with Conte having found a formula within his squad that combines a cutting edge attacking with a watertight defence. It also doesn’t bode well for Southampton that Harry Kane looks to be finding form again, with the Spurs striker having now scored in consecutive Premier League games. As buoyed as the Saints will have been following their three points accrued at West Ham, it will be very difficult for them to cope with the fast turnaround in fixtures and an in-form Tottenham with the stronger squad depth and the higher quality of players at the forward end of the pitch should emerge triumphant.
Tip: TOTTENHAM TO WIN
