THE LOWDOWN
SOUTHAMPTON
- Whilst Southampton currently sit just outside the bottom three, they remain without a victory in this season’s Premier League after seven matches, most recently going down by three goals to one away at Chelsea.
- Talismanic central midfielder James Ward-Prowse is suspended following his sending off at Stamford Bridge and he will represent a huge loss for the Saints with centre back Jack Stephens also out and forward Che Adams missing.
LEEDS UTD
- Leeds Utd will have been relieved to have finally secured their first win of the season at home to Watford last time out and Marcelo Bielsa’s side are looking to back that up with another positive result at St Mary’s.
- Due to winger Raphinha’s international commitments with Brazil, it is unlikely that he is to be risked for this game with such a short turnaround between fixtures, whilst defenders Luke Ayling and Robin Koch as well as striker Patrick Bamford are out but Kalvin Phillips has a chance.
THE TEAM NEWS

LEEDS UTD
PREDICTED XI (4-1-4-1): Meslier; Shackleton, Llorente, Cooper, Firpo; Philiips; James, Dallas, Klich, Harrison; Rodrigo
UNAVAILABLE: Ayling (Injured), Koch (Injured), Bamford (Injured)

THE PREDICTION
Both these two sides are likely to be without key figures within their usual starting line-ups, which could well have a big effect on this game. In Ward-Prowse, Southampton will be missing their driving force from central midfield particular from a creative standpoint, whilst Raphinha has been an influential offensive figure for Leeds Utd, with three Premier League goals already to his name. No Phillips or Bamford for Leeds would also prove massive blows, although Marcelo Bielsa has always gotten the best out of Leeds’ fringe in his time at the club. When taking into account that Southampton’s three home league games this season have finished with under 2.5 goals scored, as well as Leeds’ most recent two away matches, backing the same outcome in this one, looks to be the smart play.
Tip: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
