THE LOWDOWN
SHEFFIELD UTD
Newly-promoted Sheffield Utd looked like they were heading towards their first point of the Premier League campaign only to concede late on against Nottingham Forest last Friday.
It was a terrible start for the Blades with in-form Taiwo Awoniyi putting Forest in front while fans were still taking their seats at the City Ground, but Sheffield Utd fought back when summer signing Gustavo Hamer curled a fine effort past Matt Turner early in the second half. However, Chris Wood had other ideas with the frontman scoring the winner in the 89th minute to leave the Sheffield Utd fans heading home with disappointment.
MAN CITY
Man City were given a stern test by Newcastle last weekend but the champions came through unscathed with their 0-1 victory maintaining their 100% start to the Premier League season.
On a rare off-day for Erling Haaland, it was Julian Alvarez who made the decisive contribution with a fine finish from a Phil Foden lay-off. City largely controlled the game thereafter, and always looked the likelier of the two to add to the scoreline.
THE TEAM NEWS
SHEFFIELD UTD
George Baldock and Oli McBurnie have resumed training and could find themselves in the starting line-up here, but Max Lowe will sit this one out. Yasser Larouci is poised to fill in at left-back, while Gustavo Hamer should start again after his impressive performance last week.
Paul Heckingbottom needs to check on the condition of a number of other players in what has been an injury-plagued start to the campaign for the Blades.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Foderingham; Ahmedhodzic, Egan, Robinson; Baldock, Norwood, Souza, Larouci; Hamer, Traore; McBurnie
UNAVAILABLE: Coulibaly (Injured), Lowe (Injured), Norrington-Davies (Injured), Fleck (Injured), Brewster (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Baldock (Fitness), Jebbison (Injured), Bogle (Injured), Slimane (Injured), McBurnie (Fitness)
MAN CITY
New signing Jeremy Doku is available for selection while Bernardo Silva appears to have recovered from illness and it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Portuguese international take to the pitch at some point.
Nathan Ake, Rico Lewis and Cole Palmer will be considered for starts, but an unchanged XI from the win over Newcastle looks the most likely.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Rodri, Kovacic; Foden, Alvarez, Grealish; Haaland
UNAVAILABLE: Stones (Injured), De Bruyne (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Bernardo (Illness)
THE PREDICTION
Man City remain the team to beat after their historic treble last year, and this could be something of a thrashing if City find the net early. Sheffield Utd are still hampered by injuries, but even a full strength side would struggle to live with the champions here. There have so far been no signs of City taking their foot off the gas this season and they can make a real statement here with an emphatic victory. An way win in a match containing over 3.5 goals is the prediction.
TIP: MAN CITY TO WIN & OVER 3.5 GOALS
