THE TEAM NEWS
SHEFFIELD UTD
After confirming that Ivo Grbic would definitely become Sheffield United’s number one, Chris Wilder will now have to return to Wes Foderingham, who had reportedly asked for a loan move, with Grbic suffering a concussion and unavailable for this weekend.
The Blades have more positive news on other new signing Ben Brereton Diaz. The Chilean international is expected to be available, despite being substituted at half-time of their defeat to Crystal Palace in midweek at Selhurst Park.
PREDICTED XI (4-1-4-1): Foderingham; Bogle, Ahmedhodzic, Robinson, Trusty; Souza; McAtee, Hamer, Ben Slimane, Brereton Diaz; McBurnie
UNAVAILABLE: Grbic (Injured), Basham (Injured), Egan (Injured), Baldock (Injured), Brewster (Suspended), Jebbison (Illness)
QUESTIONABLE: Lowe (Injured), Davies (Injured)
ASTON VILLA
Pau Torres has neared a return from injury a couple of times in the last few weeks but he is still missing from this one, despite Unai Emery describing him as ‘getting better’ and beginning to train individually.
There is no fresh update on Lucas Digne, who was also expected to have recovered by now so he could be available but it is unknown. Jhon Duran, Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia remain unavailable with the latter two out for the season.
PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Lenglet, Alex Moreno; McGinn, Kamara, Luiz, Tielemans; Diaby, Watkins
UNAVAILABLE: Mings (Injured), Torres (Injured), Buendia (Injured), Duran (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Digne (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
Last month, in the reverse fixture between these two sides, Aston Villa needed an equalising goal deep in second-half stoppage-time to steal a point against Sheffield United at Villa Park. Villa could have gone top that day but it did start a dodgy run of form as they lost to Manchester United, despite leading that game 2-0, being held to a goalless draw by Everton and then being beaten by Newcastle. Sheffield United’s performances have slightly improved under Chris Wilder but they were beaten 3-2 by Crystal Palace in midweek after taking an early lead. Villa really should bounce back and win this one at Bramall Lane against bottom-of-the-table opposition.
TIP: ASTON VILLA TO WIN
