THE LOWDOWN

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Steve Cooper, at the time of writing, just about remains in charge of Nottingham Forest, despite an underwhelming season after another hectic and frankly bizarre summer transfer window. The Reds begin the matchday sitting five points above the bottom three and the relegation places but desperate for a victory.

They come into this one on the back of a much-needed point at Molineux, sharing a 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend. That, though, followed a 5-0 defeat away to Fulham, which was their fourth successive defeat. They have managed just one win in their last 12 matches since before the September international break.

TOTTENHAM

After a five-match winless run of form with a depleted squad and taking the lead in all five of those matches, Tottenham earned a much-needed victory in their most recent outing last weekend. Ange Postecoglu’s north Londoners put potential top four competitors Newcastle to the sword at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a 4-1 victory.

That was just the third time this season that Tottenham have managed to score more than two goals in a game – despite the attractive and easy on the eye, more attacking style of football that Postecoglu is intent on playing. Heung-Min Son and Dejan Kulusevski linked up extremely well as they continue to grow into that new style of play.

THE TEAM NEWS

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Steve Cooper has one of the shortest injury lists in the Premier League but, unfortunately for the under-fire boss, all three of his absentees would be key men for his first choice starting line-up.

Cooper remains without key striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, due to requiring groin surgery. Right-back Serge Aurier is a doubt, whilst impressive central defender Murillo is now a doubt for this weekend as a result of a tight hamstring.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Turner; Boly, Felipe, Niakhate; Williams, Yates, Mangala, Kouyate, Toffolo; Elanga, Gibbs-White

UNAVAILABLE: Awoniyi (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Murillo (Injured), Aurier (Injured)

TOTTENHAM

Over the last month or so, Tottenham have been dealing with something of an injury and availability crisis but the Lilywhites are beginning to welcome back some key figures into the first-team fold.

However, they will remain without key first-teamers such as Micky van de Ven, Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison. Giovani Lo Celso is also a doubt for this weekend's trip to the City Ground but Postecoglu did describe the injury as 'nothing serious'.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Davies, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma; Johnson, Kulusevski, Son; Richarlison

UNAVAILABLE: Whiteman (Injured), Van de Ven (Injured), Dier (Injured), Perisic (Injured), Sessegnon (Injured), Bentancur (Injured), Maddison (Injured), Solomon (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Lo Celso (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Steve Cooper has had a ferocious backing from Nottingham Forest supporters in their recent matches and a hostile atmosphere is expected at the City Ground. Forest have been reliant on home form, both in terms of performances and results, following promotion in May 2022. Tottenham appeared to hit their groove, though, the other day, and it would appear a little unlikely that Forest are able to come out on top in this one so backing Spurs looks the way to go.

TIP: TOTTENHAM TO WIN
