THE LOWDOWN
NORWICH
- The Norwich hierarchy’s response to securing their first Premier League victory two weeks ago was to promptly sack head coach Daniel Farke, who has since been succeeded by former Aston Villa boss Dean Smith.
- Smith could bring a number of players back into the fold for this match including attacking midfielder Todd Cantwell provided his fitness levels are up to scratch, although he will be without full-back Sam Byram and centre-back Christoph Zimmermann
SOUTHAMPTON
- Ten points from their last four Premier League games have seen Southampton quietly creep up the table in recent weeks, pulling themselves well clear of the bottom three with their latest win a 1-0 triumph over Aston Villa.
- Defender Jack Stephens remains absent for the Saints, but aside from him boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has a full squad to choose from.

THE PREDICTION
It was a defeat at the hands of Southampton which ultimately cost Dean Smith his job at Aston Villa and only two weeks later he is set to pit his wits once again against Hasenhuttl’s Saints, but this time as Norwich head coach. With home advantage in their favour and a new boss to impress, the Norwich players are expected to come out of the traps firing in this encounter. To their credit, the Canaries have netted in three of their four home league games so far and are capable of doing so again provided they are not overly wasteful in front of goal. However, Southampton are a well-drilled unit in very good form and certainly contain the pace going forward to take full advantage of any space left in-behind on the counter-attack. Therefore, regardless of which way this contest will swing, both teams to score has to be fancied.
