THE LOWDOWN
NEWCASTLE
- Burnley’s win over Everton this past Wednesday night combined with Newcastle having lost their last three league games, may well have led to a fair few Geordies looking nervously over their shoulders, with the gap between them and the drop zone having now reduced to seven points.
- The Magpies remain heavily hit injury-wise with Callum Wilson, Kieran Trippier, Isaac Hayden and Jamal Lewis all still out, whilst Joe Willock and Joelinton are both doubtful due to injury and illness respectively.
WOLVES
- Wolves bounced back well following the international break after their 2-3 defeat against Leeds Utd in which they found themselves 2-0 up, as Bruno Lage’s side beat Aston Villa 2-1 despite the absence of Raul Jimenez through suspension.
- The Mexican striker remains out there and he remains joined on the sidelines by midfielder Ruben Neves and defender Ki-Jana Hoever.

THE PREDICTION
Newcastle will be desperate for three points here just to retain a sizeable gap between themselves and those dreaded relegation places and with home advantage in their favour will be looking to take the game to Newcastle from an attacking perspective. However, Wolves are coming off the back of having scored nine goals across their last four Premier League matches and will pose a strong threat offensively themselves against a team who conceded five goals last time out against Tottenham. Lage’s side have kept just one clean sheet in their most recent eight games, but even without the services of Jimenez, they contain a number of dangerous players going forward and pace on the counter-attack. With that in mind, backing both teams to score here looks a sensible play.
