THE LOWDOWN
NEWCASTLE
Eddie Howe has said he doesn’t like the tag of being known as the ‘entertainers’ of the Premier League but, quite frankly, if that is the case then the Englishman needs to ensure his defence tightens up. Their 24 matches have consisted of 90 goals with only the top three having scored more than them so far this season.
The Magpies, though, have picked up seven points from their last three Premier League matches and that has lifted them into the top seven and the European spots ahead of this match day. Their most recent outing saw them come out on top in a topsy turvy clash at the City Ground, eventually defeating Nottingham Forest by three goals to two.
BOURNEMOUTH
Andoni Iraola will be aiming to get his AFC Bournemouth side back on track after a recent sticky patch of form that has halted their rise towards the top-half of the Premier League table. The Cherries were comfortably defeated by three goals to one by Fulham at Craven Cottage at the weekend, meaning they are now winless in their last five in the league.
That loss at an out of form Fulham side, though, was the first real performance and result that would be worrying to Iraola after previously losing to Liverpool and Tottenham as well as sharing 1-1 draws with West Ham and an improving Nottingham Forest. Their 23 matches have consisted of a very entertaining 75 goals so far this season.
THE TEAM NEWS
NEWCASTLE
Eddie Howe has confirmed that Callum Wilson has undergone surgery on a pectoral issue but he is hopeful that Wilson will be able to play again this season for The Magpies.
Howe said that Wilson's fellow forward, Alexander Isak, will also 'probably not' be available for this weekend, whilst Jacob Murphy hasn't trained either. The likes of Nick Pope and Joelinton remain long-term absentees for the hosts.
PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Dubravka; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Miley; Almiron, Gordon, Barnes
UNAVAILABLE: Pope (Injured), Targett (Injured), Tonali (Suspended), Joelinton (Injured), Anderson (Injured), Wilson (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Willock (Injured), Murphy (Injured), Isak (Injured)
BOURNEMOUTH
Andoni Iraola has confirmed that Romain Faivre, who was recalled from his loan at Lorient during the January transfer window, will be missing from this weekenbd-s trip to the north east as he is suffering with illness.
Other than Faivre's absence, there was no fresh news to report by Iraola with the likes of Ryan Fredericks, Max Aarons, Tyler Adams and James Hill out through injury with Philip Billing also absent due to suspension.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Neto; Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kerkez; Cook, Christie; Tavernier, Scott, Sinisterra; Solanke
UNAVAILABLE: Hill (Injured), Aarons (Injured), Fredericks (Injured), Adams (Injured), Billing (Suspended), Faivre (Illness)

THE PREDICTION
Eddie Howe faces his former club at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon with Newcastle looking to really kick on in the final few months of the season and ensure European qualification. The Magpies don’t want to be the entertainers but that theme is surely set to continue in a few days’ time when they face a similarly thrilling Bournemouth side that will be desperate to arrest their recent slide with Andoni Iraola’s fast-paced style of football. Over 2.5 goals almost seems inevitable at this stage.
TIP: OVER 2.5 GOALS
